Dojo Gelato on Urbanspoon

Gelato really is in a class of its own when it comes to mixed frozen cream deliciousness. Dojo Gelato is one of the very few local places that offers gelato and as such it’s definitely worth checking out.

The day we happened to stop by they had a few “normal” flavors as well as a few unique ones. I tried a sample of the pistachio (Shh… I hate pistachios) gelato and found it to be absolutely amazing. It was sweet and had a hint of pistachio flavor – it almost makes me question my pistachio hate.

But alas, you can’t really judge a place by the variety of flavors they have, but rather on the quality of the gelato, right? Or maybe it’s a combination of the two. Adam and I got some of the Coconut gelato and the Dutch Chocolate – which were indisputably delicious.

My niece and nephew were with us as I like to take them to different restaurants as often as I can. My niece got the lemon sorbetto while my nephew got pomegranate sorbetto and coconut gelato. Both of them said that it was the best gelato they’ve ever had, and I’m willing to take their word for it as they’ve had quite a bit of gelato – my dad had just taken them to get gelato in Loveland the day before actually.

While Dojo Gelato is not my favorite gelato – my favorite I had while traveling outside Cincinnati – within Greater Cincinnati they are my favorite.

Dojo Gelato offers new flavors of gelato each season, so it’s really hard to rate them on flavors when they change often, but I can say that so far there hasn’t been one that I haven’t liked. In addition to gelato, they also offer sorbetto, milkshakes and sorbetto smoothies.

So what’s your favorite flavor? What’s your favorite gelato place in Cincinnati? Tell us in the comments below! If you know of a good gelato place that we don’t, share it with us!

You can find more pictures of the gelato we had at Dojo Gelato on our Facebook gallery, along with images for our other reviews that we didn’t post on the site.

Verdict: Go Try It!

Dojo Gelato is definitely a must-go next time you are in downtown Cincinnati, particularly around Findlay Market. They have a handful of usual flavors as well as unexpected, unusual flavors – and their flavors are always seasonal based on when they can get fresh ingredients. Fresh, quality ingredients always equals delicious food.
